Known as the lowest form of wit, the pun takes centerstage at the annual O. Henry Pun-Off. Punsters from around the country compete for "Punniest of Show."
Pun-Off World Championships:
There are two categories of competition. In the "Punniest of Show" competition contestants go through a 90-second freestyle competition for punsters using prepared material. The other category will be the "Punslingers" where the contestants battle in wordplay on a topic with a strict time limit.
2008 Pun-Off:
The 31st Annual O. Henry Pun-Off World Championships will be held at the O. Henry Museum in Brush Square Park located in downtown Austin, TX at 5th and Neches (near the Austin Convention Center and Hilton Hotel) on Saturday, May 17, 2008.The Pun-Off begins at high noon and ends at 5pm. The O. Henry Museum is located at 409 E. 5th., Austin, TX 78701.
