Ernest Bloch lived in Agate Beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean, now a part of Newport, Oregon. During the period he lived in Agate Beach, Bloch entered the final and most productive period of his life: during which he composed more than a third of his entire output -- a large piano concerto, four more string quartets, three more symphonies, and a variety of other works, large and small.
