19-year-old Van Cliburn gold-medal winner Haochen Zhang plays the third movement of Ravel's Gaspard de la nuit during the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition on June 6, 2009.
Haochen Zhang played the entire Ravel concerto at Portland Piano International (PPI) Sunday afternoon.
In addition to hearing one of the most exciting new talents in the piano world, the Portland audience experienced a new technology. Over the piano was a movie screen showing the performance in close-up. Those not fortunate enough to have seats on the keyboard side of the piano could see all his keyboard techniques.
